Ocean Park Baptist Church in Jacksonville Beach, FL is looking to hire a part-time “Music Leader” (10 hours/week) to help organize and develop the church's music ministry. Ocean Park is a loving and gracious congregation desiring to take the next step in our revitalization. We are committed to the authority of God's Word, teaching the doctrines of grace, and the proclamation of the gospel in Jacksonville Beach and throughout the world. Our desire is to implement a blended style of music that includes traditional & modern hymns along with contemporary praise songs. The ideal candidate should possess a passion for Christ and a love for the local church. Skills & Experience
Above all else, faithfulness and integrity as a follower of Christ (1 Tim. 3:1-13). Sound biblical and doctrinal understanding and conviction (2 Tim. 2:15). Desire and ability to lead congregation in worship and devotion to Christ (Eph. 5:19; Col 3:16). Vocal & musical ability on the acoustic guitar (Psalm 33:2-3; 144:9).
Love and serve as a member of the Covenant Community at Ocean Park. Implement the vision and priorities of Ocean Park into our weekly worship. Partner in ministry with Pastor to equip the saints and reach the lost.
Recruit, audition, and develop OPBC worship team members (singers, musicians, a/v team, etc). Oversee the musical aspects of the church budget. Coordinate logistics of worship with pastor and A/V team. Lead weekly practice with the worship team. Meet weekly with Pastor for prayer and discipleship
Prepare theme and elements of worship in conjunction with Pastor (e.g. songs, transitions, readings, etc.) for Sunday morning & evening worship. Introduce new “God-centered & Gospel Exalting” music to the congregation.
Contribute to church-wide outreach events and ministries (VBS, Soup N’ Sing, etc) Prepare and lead special events & services throughout the year (Christmas Eve, Good Friday, funerals*, etc).
* Depending on availability, as this is a part-time position.
Proposed Weekly Schedule
Sunday Morning - 2.5 hours - (Practice, Worship, Interaction with congregation)
Sunday Evening - 1.5 hours - (Practice, Worship, Interaction with congregation)
Rehearsal with Team - 1.5 hours
Planning, personal development, recruiting, finding new music, personal practice - 3.5 hours
Meet with Pastor - 1 hour
Pay: $10,000 per year
